FOI is looking for an engineer in radar systems
FOI, the Total Defense Research Institute, is one of Europe's leading institutes for applied research in defense and security. FOI is an authority under the Ministry of Defense and is tasked with conducting research, method and technology development, and investigations for total defense and in support of disarmament, non-proliferation, and international security. The operations are carried out on behalf of primarily the Government Offices, the Armed Forces, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). At FOI, we have about 1400 employees, of which more than 1000 work directly with research and development. Our competencies span the entire field from natural sciences and engineering to social and political sciences.
Are you interested in using your strong technical skills to develop new technology that strengthens Sweden's defense and security?

About the position
You will work on developing experimental radar systems for our applied research together with other engineers and researchers. You will also conduct analyses of data from these systems. The tasks may include design, construction, testing, and integration of technology in the radar systems depending on the needs of the operations and your competence profile. Examples of specific tasks may include design and measurement of electronic circuits or programming of signal processing methods. The role involves varied tasks with both theoretical and practical development work. You will write reports in Swedish for our clients and, if necessary, contribute written material for scientific publication in English. The purpose of our work is to assess the benefits for Sweden's defense of new technologies, methods, and products in the radar field.
About the unit
FOI has four locations: Stockholm, Umeå, Grindsjön, and Linköping. You will be part of the Radar Systems unit, which belongs to the Electronic Warfare department. The Radar Systems unit analyzes and evaluates methods and techniques for radar reconnaissance and radar surveillance, analyzes the characteristics and performance of the Armed Forces' radar systems, and develops new radar system concepts.
